Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas mark 4.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Stir in vanilla; add flour and mix well.
Put through biscuit press and form biscuits onto baking trays. Alternatively, roll out to 1cm thickness and cut out desired shaped with biscuit cutters. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 160C/325F/Gas 3.
Mix together the butter and sugar, either by hand or using an electric hand whisk, until pale and smooth. Add the vanilla extract, then gently mix in the flour until completely incorporated (try not to work the flour too much or the biscuits will not be so crumbly). Using your hands, squeeze the mixture together into a ball of dough.
Gently roll the dough out to about 5mm/¼in thick (dust the work surface with a little flour if the dough sticks). Cut into shapes using a biscuit cutter. Transfer the biscuits to a baking tray lined with baking parchment (or a non-stick baking tray) and chill in the fridge for 15 minutes to rest (chilling makes them hold their shape better when baking).
Before cooking, sprinkle each biscuit with a pinch of granulated sugar. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until pale golden-brown.
Remove from the oven and transfer the biscuits to a wire rack to cool.

2. Squeeze the mixture together again to form a big ball of dough.
3. Seperate into balls the size of ping pong balls the flatten on a baking tray using the back of a fork.
4. Cook for 15 - 20 minutes at 170 degrees

Put butter, flour and sugar in the mixing bowl.
Mix together with wooden spoon and hands so that the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
Then use hands to squeeze mixure together so that the mixture looks like a dough.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface.
Cut out the shapes using your chosen cutter.
Place on a baking tray and leave in oven for 20 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
Then let the biscuits cool on a cooling tray for 10 minutes.
